The Yosemite Suite 4 by David Hockney is a digital print created in 2010, depicting the forest landscape of Yosemite National Park. This artwork is one of 25 limited edition prints in the series, produced using iPad drawing techniques. Hockney created this piece on-site at Yosemite, utilising the iPad's touch screen as his canvas to capture the park's scenery through digital brushstrokes.
This instalment in The Yosemite Suite features trees rendered in a rich colour palette of magenta, orange, green, blue and yellow, that reflects Hockney's interpretation of the Yosemite landscape. The iPad drawing method allowed for immediate, on-location creation, combining plein air traditions with contemporary digital practices.
The use of digital technology in The Yosemite Suite 4 enabled Hockney to experiment with layering and blending colours in ways unique to the digital medium, resulting in a distinctive representation of the Yosemite landscape.
