Warhol’s Cowboys and Indians portfolio has seen steady growth over the past decade. Produced in 1986, the ten-part screenprint series merges Native American iconography with cinematic Western figures, juxtaposing myth and history in vibrant technicolour. Today, it’s one of Warhol’s most undervalued blue chip portfolios – and that’s rapidly changing.
In 2022, a complete set sold for £772,959 – up from just £190,000 in 2015. That represents a 318% increase over the decade and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 15%. The most recent set to enter the market sold in May 2025 at Chicago-based auction house Hindmans for £ 628,748 ($ 838,700 USD), just on par with the record price and demonstrating continued popularity and competition for this set. With fewer full sets remaining intact (matching editions are especially prized) and demand for comprehensive portfolios is only intensifying.
The market is responding. Individual prints like Mother and Child and Geronimo achieved record highs this year, and all top ten sales of individual works from the series have occurred since 2022. This growth isn’t speculative. Buyers are recognising the historical, aesthetic, and market value in this visually distinct portfolio.
A complete set is currently available through MyArtBroker. With demand continuing and supply tightening, it represents a timely opportunity for collectors looking to secure a culturally significant Warhol series with real upside potential.
