Meaning & Analysis

In this body of artworks, KAWS pays homage to the much-loved cartoon character, which reflects the artist’s love for cartoons and animation. KAWS’ interest in cartoons traces back to his time studying illustration in New York at the School of Visual Arts and his early career as a freelance animator at Jumbo Pictures, where he designed the backgrounds for animation series such as 101 Dalmatians, Daria and Doug.
