Banksy’s Girl With Balloon is more than just an iconic image. It’s one of the most actively traded and valuable works in the entire contemporary print market. With over £14 million in auction sales recorded to date and Artist Proofs reaching seven-figure results, this edition has firmly cemented its place as a blue-chip asset for collectors and investors alike.
Since 2015, prices have skyrocketed. Between 2018 and 2021 alone, the average value of signed and unsigned editions grew more than fourfold. The Gold AP reached a peak of £1.1 million at Sotheby’s in 2021, while the Purple AP achieved £791,000 at Christie’s. In 2025, recent results continue to show strength: one signed edition sold for £189,000, while an unsigned print achieved north of £82,000, both outperforming expectations.
Despite fewer works entering the public market in recent years, demand remains unwavering. Sell-through rates held strong above 77% in both 2023 and 2024, and the declining volume only reinforces the scarcity and value of well-preserved prints. APs, with just 88 in existence across all colourways, are particularly tightly held and rarely surface.
Widely viewed as a symbol of hope, Girl With Balloon is a deeply resonant image. Its emotional pull is matched only by its market performance, which continues to offer real potential for sellers and buyers alike.
