But Yeh is a delicate 2005 etching forming part Tracey Emin's Torsos collection. Set against a creamy woven paper background, the etching appears fluid and effortless. From the letter “h”, Emin continues her thin line to delineate a nude female torso. At the bottom of the print appears Emin’s signature, and the numbered edition of each print.
Emin has continuously merged fluid figurative representations with poetic text in her work. But Yeh is no exception to this powerful mingling between the literary and visual arts. What appears, at first, to be a simple two-word text piece and a continuous line figure emerges as an intimate and ambiguous observation of Emin’s own body. Constantly fascinated by the vulnerability experienced when naked, Emin delicately represents her musings on her own nude form. From this original etching, Emin produced a neon work using the same composition in 2010 with the slightly altered title But Yea.
