Mickalene Thomas is an American Contemporary Artist celebrated for her vibrant, multi-textured works that explore themes of race, gender, and identity. Born in Camden, New Jersey, in 1971, Thomas earned her BFA from the Pratt Institute and her MFA from Yale University. She is known for her complex portraits of Black women, incorporating rhinestones, enamel, and colourful patterns.

Leah has worked closely with museums, galleries and independent artists and designers in London and Paris since 2015. She studied photography at the University of the Arts London, and has an MA in Experience Design from the Royal College of Art.
