Erich Heckel, a pivotal figure in the Expressionist movement, was renowned for his intense and emotive art that broke from traditional norms to explore deeper human conditions. His innovative techniques, particularly in woodcut printmaking, combined with the influence of non-European art forms, made his work standout with a raw, primal quality that challenged conventional aesthetics.
