Biography

Born in 1977 in Spain, Edgar Plans' journey began in his childhood, drawing inspiration from comic books, cartoons, and the graffiti that coloured the urban landscape. His passion for storytelling through visuals was evident early on. By integrating these influences, Plans developed a unique style characterised by vibrant, animated characters that tackle complex themes such as environmentalism, social justice, and human rights.

His early works, marked by their raw energy and bold colours, quickly garnered attention, leading to significant exhibitions worldwide. As his style evolved, so did his audience, with Plans gaining a substantial following for his engaging and thought-provoking pieces.

Throughout his career, Plans has consistently pushed the boundaries of traditional art forms by incorporating elements of pop culture and street art into his gallery works. His Animal Heroes series, started in the early 2000s, became a defining project, showcasing anthropomorphic creatures that confront societal issues with whimsy and severity. Each character, crafted with a distinct personality and story, invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences and the societal norms they encounter daily.

Plans’ collaborations with various international artists and brands have not only expanded his artistic repertoire but also placed him at the forefront of a global dialogue on contemporary societal challenges. His work has been exhibited in prestigious art fairs and galleries worldwide, solidifying his position as a significant contemporary artist.
