Meaning & Analysis

Mick Jagger (F. & S. II.142) comes from the larger series, Mick Jagger produced by Warhol in 1975. Mick and Bianca Jagger spent the summer of ’75 at Warhol’s Long Island residence. During their stay, the Pop artist snapped the polaroid photographs that provide the basis for this series of 10 portraits. Due to the subject matter, changing style of Warhol, and the signature of two twentieth century icons, the images of this series are some of the most sought-after in Warhol’s oeuvre.
